God guides your steps, but there is a catch; you have to LET Him.

Imagine your lost in a foreign land. Scared and alone, wishing you were in a comfortable, safe place; wishing you were home. You try to find some landmark, some turn of the road, any hope at all that would lead you in the way you should go. But you stand there and in every direction there is, nothing.

Many times in life I find myself in that very place. I feel like I’m floating not able to propel myself in any direction. Not because there is lack of strength but because there is no guide. I’m lost in a foreign land not knowing which way to go.

Your longing to start your own business but you have absolutely no clue. You want to grow your personal relationships but your walls are too high. You don’t want to be where you are in life but you lack the self-confidence to move a different direction by yourself.  All these things are examples of where the guidance, given from God, is desired, needed, and available.

I think one common misconception about God is He is supposed to be THE magic genie. Safely contained only when we desire to rub the lamp and make him appear.  God’s love is unconditional. However, His guidance, assistance, and support are given to those that seek Him to find it. In most cases seeking Him to guide you is the easy part; its trusting Him completely no matter what your circumstances are, is where it can get uncomfortable.

*A note from me…starting to trust God completely was one of the hardest lessons to learn. But once you get to a point in where you know that the Lord will come thru in any situation…and you know that any way that He choses to direct your path, in that situation, is going to be the absolute best way in the end… I’m telling you from experience that there is no greater freedom than that!

The following scriptures are different ways that the Lord is ready to guide you…if you let Him.  Guidance from God; Initiated by You.

For everything that was written [in the scriptures] in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope [waiting patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled].  May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Romans 15:4-6

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.  Proverbs 16:3

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!]  1 Peter 3:11

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.  Proverbs 16:9 {see also Psalm 37:23, Proverbs 20:24, and Jeremiah 10:23}

Proverbs 2:1-5

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.  Proverbs 2:1-5 (nlt)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 (esv)

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Proverbs 17:22

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3 (nlt)

These have come so that the proven genuineness of y III ur faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:7 (nlt)

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.  Jeremiah 31:3 (nkj)

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.  Romans 15:4
